COZE MAT: The Next-gen Desktop Mat
We are COZE studio, a company that’s dedicated to making stylish, convenient products for people’s daily house life.
What we talk about today is a reflection of our life in the past of 2020, when most people around the world had no choice but to stay at home to live and work. An essential part for everything that people did during this period was a desk, but the longer we stayed on it, the more we thought we could do something special to make it truly adaptive to people’s personal setup & convenience.
The COZE MAT was brought to life with one major target, and four different approaches towards it.
One major target: It is designed to rebuild any desk like architecture. When a desk is flat, everything has only one place to be, that’s like cars running on a road without a driveline. The MAT splits & organizes the desktop into different zones in one slim body, with plenty of flexibility for personal preference.
Then we will explain our approaches toward the target in four parts.
First, we got modular design as a basic structure. Traditional desk mat is more of a cover than an organizer, but adding another clunky organizer for the sake of daily stuff seems like an overkill. With MAT’s zones for your devices, your hands, or your gadgets. We want to help you sort things by function, hierarchy, and utility.
Second, to make modular design a more friendly choice, the MAT also comes with a flexible layout. The top symmetrical zones are equipped with swappable parts, making both sides equally convenient however you set up your own space. To use it left or right should be your right.
Third, the built-in, omni-device stand. We know that most people aren’t that comfortable when typing on a flat surface with a flat keyboard, nor reading with a down-ward head and sore neck. With the omni-stand, MAT works as the backbone to lift the daily drivers, making them easier to interact with. You don’t need to bring anything more than just the device itself, just put it right on and get to work right away.
Fourth and finally, a mobile charging stand. If you sit before the desk long enough, your gadgets would need to get refueled at some point. This time, MAT delivers power through QI-wireless charging at 15W, so that you can easily charge and use your phone at the same time, with a comfortable angle to glimpse for updates or some quick moves. For wearables, it also has a slot for the dedicated charger to fit in, making the stand your active clock as well.
One more thing. What we are talking about is a MAT, that is why it should also look and feel just like one — -a damn pretty one, actually. We picked the vegan leather as a luxury yet planet-healthy material for the surface, and an alternate anti-slip texture to hold the device firm and steady. Multiple fiberglass panels were cut, aligned, and precisely sealed into the frame for strong and durable structure, adding significant longevity to the MAT’s life.
